I won a Marshall scholarship to read philosophy at Oxford, and what I most wanted to do was strengthen public intellectual culture - I'd write books and essays to help us figure out who we wanted to be.

My junior high was dreadful. I see a lot of my fellow alumni on America's Most Wanted.

First acting gig was playing a victim in 'America's Most Wanted.' The night the show aired, they caught the killer!

The Joker: [over the PA] Tonight you're all gonna be part of a social experiment. Through the magic of diesel fuel and ammonium nitrate, I'm ready right now to blow you all sky high. Anyone attempts to get off their boat, you all die. Each of you has a remote... to blow up the other boat. At midnight, I blow you all up. If, however, one of you presses the button, I'll let that boat live. So, who's

it going to be: Harvey Dent's most wanted scumbag collection, or the sweet and innocent civilians? You choose... oh, and you might want to decide quickly, because the people on the other boat might not be so noble.

Guard: Volunteers comin' in!
Faudron: [kneels] William Wallace, we've come to fight and to die for you.
William Wallace: Stand up, man, I'm not the Pope.
Faudron: [smiles and stands] My name is Faudron. My sword is yours. I brought you this.
[reaches for something, Hamish tries to stop him]
Guard: We checked 'em

for arms.
Faudron: I brought you this.
[pulls out a sash]
Faudron: My wife made it for you.
William Wallace: Thank you.
Stephen: [starts laughing] Him? That can't be William Wallace. I'm *prettier* than this man!
[to the sky]
Stephen: Alright, Father, I'll ask him.

[to William]
Stephen: If I risk my neck for you, will I get a chance to kill Englishmen?
Hamish: Is your father a ghost, or do you converse with the Almighty?
Stephen: In order to find his equal, an Irishman is forced to talk to God.
[to the sky]
Stephen: Yes, Father!
[to Hamish]

Stephen: The Almight says, "Don't change the subject, just answer the fuckin' question."
Hamish: Mind your tongue.
Campbell: Insane Irish.
Stephen: [draws a dagger on Campbell; everyone draws weapons] Smart enough to get a dagger past your guards, old man.
William Wallace: That's

my friend, Irishman. And the answer to your question is "yes". You fight for me, you get to kill the English.
Stephen: [grins] Excellent!
[removes his dagger]
Stephen: Stephen is my name. I the most wanted man on my island, except I'm not on my island, of course. More's the pity.
Hamish: "Your island"? You mean Ireland?

Stephen: Yeah. It's mine.
Hamish: You're a madman.
Stephen: [nods and starts laughing, then Hamish does as well] I've come to the right place, then.

Secretary of State Thaddeus Ross: Still no word from Vision?
James Rhodes: Satellites lost him somewhere over Edinburgh.
Secretary of State Thaddeus Ross: On a stolen Quinjet with four of the world's most wanted criminals.
James Rhodes: You know, they're only criminals because you've chosen to call them that,

right sir?
Secretary of State Thaddeus Ross: My God, Rhodes. Your talent for horseshit rivals my own.
James Rhodes: If it weren't for those accords, Vision would've been right here.
Secretary of State Thaddeus Ross: I remember your signature on those papers, Colonel.
James Rhodes: That's right. I'm

pretty sure I've paid for that.
Secretary of State Thaddeus Ross: You having second thoughts?
James Rhodes: Not anymore.
[Rogers, Romanoff and Vision enter the room]
Steve Rogers: Mr. Secretary.
Secretary of State Thaddeus Ross: You've got some nerve, I'll give you that.
Natasha

Romanoff: You could use some of that right now.
Secretary of State Thaddeus Ross: The world's on fire, and you think all is forgiven?
Steve Rogers: I'm not looking for forgiveness, and I'm way past asking permission. Earth just lost her best defender, so we're here to fight. And if you want to stand in our way, we'll fight you too.

Hannibal
Hannibal

Hannibal Lecter: [writing a letter] Dear Clarice, I have followed with enthusiasm the course of your disgrace and public shaming. My own never bothered me, except for the inconvenience of being incarcerated, but you may lack perspective. In our discussions down in the dungeon, it was apparent to me that your father, the dead night watchman, figures largely in your value system. I

think your success in putting an end to Jame Gumb's career as a couturier pleased you most because you could imagine your father being pleased. But now, alas, you're in bad odour with the FBI. Do you imagine your daddy being shamed by your disgrace? Do you see him in his plain pine box crushed by your failure; a sorry, petty end of a promising career? What is worst about this humiliation, Clarice?

Is it how your failure will reflect on your mommy and daddy? Is your worst fear that people will now and forever believe they were indeed just good old trailer-camp tornado-bait white trash, and that perhaps you are too? By the way I couldn't help noticing on the FBI's rather dull public website that I have been hoisted from the Bureau's archives of the common criminal and elevated to the more

prestigious 10 Most Wanted list. Is this coincidence, or are you back on the case? If so, goody goody, 'cause I need to come out of retirement and return to public life. I imagine you sitting in a dark basement room bent over papers and computer screens. Is that accurate? Please tell me truly, Special Agent Starling. Regards, your old pal, Hannibal Lecter, M.D.
[pause]

Hannibal Lecter: P.S. Clearly this new assignment is not your choice, rather I suppose it is a part of the bargain, but you accepted it, Clarice. Your job is to craft my doom, so I am not sure how well I should wish you, but I'm sure we'll have a lot of fun. Ta-ta, "H".

Van Helsing
Van Helsing

Van Helsing: Bless me father for I have...
Cardinal Jinette: Sinned! Yes, I know. You're very good at it. You shattered the Rose Window.
Van Helsing: Well, not to split hairs, but it was Mr. Hyde who did the shattering.
Cardinal Jinette: Thirteenth century. Over six hundred years old! I wish you a week in hell

for that.
Van Helsing: It would be a nice reprieve.
Cardinal Jinette: Don't get me wrong. Your results are unquestionable, but your methods attract far too much attention. Wanted posters. We are not pleased.
Van Helsing: Do you think I like being the most wanted man in Europe? Why don't you and the order do something about it?

Cardinal Jinette: Because we do not exist.
Van Helsing: Well then neither do I.
Cardinal Jinette: When we found you crawling up the steps of this church, half dead, it was clear to all of us that you had been sent to do God's work.
Van Helsing: Why can't He do it Himself?

[he gets up angrily, but the Cardinal presses a button, dropping a set of bars over the confessional's exit]
Cardinal Jinette: When we found you crawling up the steps of this church, half dead, it was clear to all of us that you

had been sent to do God's work.
Van Helsing: Why can't he do it Himself?
Cardinal Jinette: Don't blaspheme! You already lost your memory as a penance for past sins. If you wish to recover it, I suggest you continue to heed the call.
